IRIS National Capital Area Chapter
2009 Community Partner Award Winner
The Patrick Henry Shelter House in Falls Church, Virginia, awarded the IRIS National Capital Area Chapter its 2009 Community Partner Award for the chapter’s Adopt an Apartment redesign project on three of the shelter’s family apartments. The volunteers, all members of the Interior Redesign Industry Specialists, the international professional association for interior redesigners and stagers, completely redesigned and redecorated the compact apartments by creatively refurbishing and repurposing existing and donated furnishings. The award was accepted by one of the apartment designers, Pam Faulkner of Faulkner House Interior Redesign, President and founder of the chapter.
IRIS Redesigners Recognized by the House of Representatives
United States Congressman Gerald Connolly of Virginia officially recognized Shelter House and the recipients of the 2009 Shelter House, Inc. Volunteer Awards on the floor of the House of Representatives. His remarks and the list of award recipients, including the Interior Redesign Industry Specialists, were printed in the Congressional Record for Tuesday, June 9, 2009. National Capital Area Chapter President Pam Faulkner, of Faulkner House Interior Redesign, was presented with a copy of Congressman Connolly’s speech as printed in the Congressional Record.
